Bye, bye love....
"Good night my Angel...You'll always be a part of me" -Billy Joel
Last week was a rough week for me. I came down with a horrible respiratory infection, but was still moving forward. But Duncan’s stomach swelled up, and it was already too late to really do anything but try to make him comfortable. His organs were already shutting down. I spent 32 hours straight holding him in my arms, waiting for his last breath. They said it would be sooner, but he wouldn’t let go. Then, after seventeen and a half years, he finally crossed the rainbow bridge.
Yesterday, I kept myself busy by making 3 bags of keychains for you. I wrote some words, and got Mario’s 2023 taxes done…yeah, don’t ask. Then Mario told me to go to bed and relax. But I have no one to hog my bed or snore in my ear and make me laugh. Luckily, night quill is helping me stay a bit numb as I process some of my grief.
Today, I wrote more words. Family of Love is coming along nicely. It helps to stay busy. I’m no stranger to grief, and I know it’s better to just process and keep moving as much as possible. Especially when it comes to being sick at the same time. Don’t worry, I’m doing plenty of resting and self care. I took a nap today because I’m exhausted from not breathing.
My legs are cold without my leg warmer, and I miss the occasional heavy sigh as he would wait patiently for me to finish working on my bookish things. The kids found it fascinating that he constantly followed me around, laughed that he was a constant trip hazard, and he was the first cat they had ever seen that actually did the things he was asked to do. He was a very good boy who will be missed greatly.
Thank you so much for all of your kind words and sweet messages. They have definitely helped me to feel less alone.
Family of Love Update
This is really coming along. I have one more character to cover, then I will start the editing process! I will keep you updated as I get closer to release time!
Love on Fire Update
I haven’t added any words yet, but I will be soon. I was surprised that this one is pulling at me to be worked on next. Mostly because Duncan’s a main character. However, Sophie’s story is what it is because I wrote to help process my grief of losing nana, and it became so much better. I think Duncan wants me to do the same for him. It’s been playing out in my head, so we’ll see what happens….
What else is coming up?…
Family of Fate will be the last novella. Then I will start working on Reign of the Raven. This will be the last of the saga. You will definitely have to read the novellas prior to Reign of the Raven. There’s Easter eggs that you won’t want to miss! It’s not my fault. The story does what it wants! So, prepare yourself.
Surviving the Storm will also be coming. I’m not sure of the deadlines, of course, due to my neurological disease, but I’m working on it. March 5th is my anniversary of freedom, but I won’t be able to get anything together for you in time for that. It is something I enjoy celebrating. Any suggestions?
Medical Updates
There isn’t any yet…lol. I found a really detailed migraine tracker that I’m filling out to give to the neurologist. There has been a Go Fund Me account set up to help cover the MRI cost. Feel free to share it if you would like. Otherwise, I’m still at a stand-still until I can figure out how to get that done. I’m still waiting for SSDI to process paperwork. That’s about it.
I hope this finds you doing well! All the best,
Stormi
